We hope you saw that beautiful "Harvest Moon" last night (Tuesday). The moon almost a full moon- new "moon "lit up my big den. It was so beautiful and reminded us of Revival Time at Dry Creek Batist Church.
In the Cubbin’s Hollow lived many dedicated Baptist church members. There were no cars to come to church. A dedicated deacon, Mr. Brack White and his wife, Pearl lived in the Cubbins Hollow so did Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cubbins. Brack White got his two strong mules out of the barn hitched them to his long wagon filled with chairs, stools, etc. with a bright shining latern hanging between their faces with one whip of command he stopped at every home and picked up the people. It was Revival time at Dry Creek Baptist Church. The last house was "Ma Denton" too old and sick to go she raised her right hand and shouted praise God that the wagon was full of people going to church located on the Lona Frazier property.
There were hitching poles for the mules. They knew where to pull the wagon and stop. Brack White pulled the reigns and got out to hitch the mules. The "New Moon" gave light for the people to go into the church. This is a true story, because we were in that wagon and saw Bernice Edge go to the altar and be saved. He hit one bench or pew in front of him and each pew fell over on the one in front of it. Alvie Mullican was also at the altar.
Palace Cripps wife, Nancy, shouted so did Nettie Cubbins. She and Mr. Bill Cubbins lived in the Cubbins Hollow where Brack White and Mr. Bill had a lumber mill.
The preacher was Rev. W.L. Whitlock or Bro. Clay Boss. This was in the 1930’s.
Last night "New Moon" reminded us of this story. Hope everyone saw the moon. It was one of God’s beautiful creations.
One day this week Matilda Earl and your writer were taking a break from making Damson Plum jelly and butter when we saw another creation of the Lord our God. We saw two hen turkey with six of their half grown pullets. They had been eating grain fallen from the freshly cut hay on the Frazier-Hendrix hayfield and taking a fresh drink of water out of the Dry Creek stream which meanders down the valley to meet Smith Fork. These same turkeys were seen the next day on the left field. Soon they will fly to the next hill to join the many birds which live there.
Faye Adkins of Dale Ridge visited Louise Frazier and brought her a beautiful flower thanks Faye.
