Do you know the difference in the spring flowers daffodils, jonquils, and buttercups? We have seen the common daffodils blossoming out everywhere. They have a single large blossom with flat, strappy leaves. Throughout life, I’ve seen many variations, but the most common one around DeKalb is the solid yellow blossom. The narcissus paperwhites are the bulbs that spring up to produce several white miniature blooms. Jonquils are most easily identified by their dark green, tube –shaped leaves as compared to others that lay flat. They bloom in clusters with several flowers, instead of a single bloom. The Jonquil is also known for having a strong scent. Buttercups consist of an herbaceous perennial that has small yellow or white flowers with five separate petals. This plant often flourishes in over grazed pasture fields with poor stands of desirable forages. Middle TN has many fields that have dense buttercup populations. Look around the country- side this spring for the beautiful fields full of yellow buttercups. All of these flowers tend to bloom in the spring; however buttercups can produce blooms throughout the summer. We enjoy all flowers and look forward to our patio being filled with their beauty.
Edward and Edsel Frazier have sure enjoyed all of their recent birthday celebrations. Dry Creek Baptist Church friends and family enjoyed celebrating with them last Wednesday night.
We send our sympathy to Billie Gassaway and family in the death of Mr. Earl. May God be near and dear to them during this time.
One of our great-granddaughters, Olivia Miller, will have a birthday on the 17th. It is hard to believe Olivia will be turning 13!
She is a smart, happy, loving teenager. We have enjoyed Olivia’s spirit since the day she was born. Happy birthday to You!!!
