New bush should attract many beautiful butterflies

Jimmy and Brenda Pate had spent the weekend in the Great Smoky Mountains and were on their way back to their home in Hendersonville, but were directed by Rusty Caplinger to the home of Louise Frazier.  They enjoyed a long visit while reflecting back on kinfolk that had lived in this community.  They were related to Carnell, Paul, and Bennie Cripps and his father, Zean V. Cripps. We extended them a special invitation to the Dry Creek Baptist Homecoming on June 5th.

Sharon White and Phyllis Sandlin visited Louise Frazier last week.  We enjoyed the afternoon together.  It’s always good to see these two special nieces.

All colors of the iris and roses are beautiful in a vase on the table.  Gail Thompson supplies the iris, and Bro. Donald Owen supplied the beautiful roses with baby’s breath.

For Mother’s Day we received a Mandeville, a pot of impatients, a Boston Fern, a large pot of Sugar Daddy Petunias, another large standing fern, and a Pink Micro Chip (Butterfly Bush).  Justin and Tiffany Cripps brought the bush in the afternoon.  We have never had this type bush before and look forward to see if it attracts multitudes of butterflies as predicted.

Congratulations to Kayley Caplinger on being named to the Most Valuable Player list of the District 8AA Softball Tournament and Co-Player of the Year. We wish Kayley continued success. We are proud of Danny Bond for his many years of coaching and being named Coach of the Year again.

Jerald and Lisa Cripps along with their church family have been reading the book of Proverbs.  Bro. Joel Wood, pastor,  asks the church group to read a chapter a day during the 31 days of May.  The scripture opens up a broad spectrum of human situations, relationships, and responsibilities.  Proverbs offers insights, warnings, and instructions on general character and morals of living.  It has a powerful message on how we should all be striving to live today.

Our community sends sincere sympathy to Shirley Hayes and family in the death of her son Joel, and the Cross family in the loss of Tony’s dad, Herman Cross.  May God see you through these days until you meet again.  We were saddened to hear of the death of Mildred Green.  She raised her family in our community.

Waiting is never wasted in God’s eyes. We live in a world addicted to having everything happen "right now." We rush to the next new movie, book, or gadget to enrich our lives. But Simeon understood the one thing that can change our life for the better. He knew these Old Testament words: "Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord" (Psalm 27:14).
