Precious memories, how they linger
Dry Creek Flashes

Our community lost a good neighbor and friend last week. Bobby Joines lost his battle with cancer when he developed double pneumonia and other complications. Bobby was raised in Frazier Hollow, Dry Creek, by his parents Robert and Johnnie Joines, along with Mattie Joines (Grandmother) and Ms. Parolee Neal (Aunt). As a young boy, he played around the hills and fresh water spring surrounding the family farm. Some lifelong friends were made back then. Jimmy Womack, Ronnie and John Larry Frazier, Gary Mullican, Kenny Edge, Gary and Dwight Cripps, Terry Cripps, and Bob Earl Fuston are just a few of the friends he made during his childhood years. He graduated from Liberty High School and went to work with his parents at Valdor in Smithville, where he retired as a plant manager. Many people have testified of his compassionate heart as an employer. He worked with the families in time of family sickness enabling them to keep their jobs and care for their loved ones. He married his wife of 50 years, Mary Hutson Joines, at a young age. Together, they raised their family in the same area of his raising. The pride of his life was his daughter Tammy (Mike) Crook, and grandchildren, Alicia (Robbie) Maxwell, and Jordan Crook. If you wanted to see Bobby light up, just mention his precious grandchildren. They brought a lot of happiness and adventure to his life. He was a member of the Dry Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed Bro. Donald Owens’ weekly visits to their home. Bobby served our district as County Commissioner for the past twelve years. He will be remembered as a soft spoken, loving man, who always welcomed everyone with his beautiful smile. We are proud to have known and loved Bobby for the past 71 years. He will be missed by all, but we know there will be a reunion day. Praise God. Please keep his sweet family in your prayers.

Get well wishes go out to our friend Helen Burt of Alexandria who fell at her home. We pray a quick recovery for Helen.
