Just when you think it’s safe to go outside, and the rain is gone for a while, it comes back and dumps three and a-half inches last Sunday night on the mountain. Gardens and crops will really benefit, fi they didn’t get washed out of the ground and can get over the shock of all that pounding rail all at once.

Visitors of Houston and Martha Parker Monday afternoon were Carlon and Mai Nell Melton. Houston and Carlon both worked at Carrier Corp. for a number of years so you know they had a lot of memories to talk about.

We need to keep some people in prayer; Houston Parker, Denise Stanton, Charlie Mai Daniel and Doris Beshearse.

Some August birthdays that are coming up are: Pam Turnpaugh Aug. 9; Sherri Hood, Aug. 9; Billy Joe Vincion Aug. 12; Hannah Pitts Aug. 13; Claire Meyncke Aug. 13; Ron Turnpaugh Aug. 15; Teresa Motley Aug. 15; Erica Fults Aug. 15; our granddaughter Ashlee Gunter Aug. 17; Carlon Melton Aug. 18; Darrell Fults Aug. 23; and Davis Higgins will be 98 on Aug. 26.

A 50th wedding anniversary party was held at the Woodbury Lions Club building July 20, 207 for Dorris and Stanka Ferrell. Several were in attendance. A great time was had by everyone. We hope they have many more years together.

In this world we live in today, have you noticed how the ungodly people are being appeased at every turn it seems so they will not be offended? My question is why aren’t we thinking of how God is being offended by all of this sin that goes against His holy word? We had better stand firm for the Lord in what I feel are the last days before Christ’s returning. No leg will the ungodly ones have to stand on then. God’s punishment will be swift and there will be no sneers and laughter coming from those that have mocked Him and rejected Him and freely choose their life of sin to line in.
