Ladies Brunch & Revival
Dry Creek Baptist Church will be having a Ladies Brunch on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 10a.m. Guest speaker will be Marilyn Hunter. All ladies are invited. Revival will be held Sunday, November 10 thru Nov. 13 at 7pm. Dr. Harold Hunter will be the guest preacher. Congregation and choir singing will also be held nightly. Everyone is invited.

Calling all artists, craftspeople and makers in the Plateau area. Announcing a planning meeting to restart the Plateau chapter of Tennessee Craft. The meeting will be Sunday, November 10, 2024 from 2-9 pm at the Spring Street Studio in Cookeville, TN.
Alexandria Fire Dept. Chili Supper/Silent Auction
Alexandria Fire Department will have its all you can eat chili cupper and silent auction on Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 11am – 6pm at the DeKalb County Fairground at the Kenneth Sandlin Center. Chili tickets are $10 for 13+, $5 for ages 7-12 and free for kids 6 and under free. All proceeds from silent auction benefits the Angel Tree, while all of proceeds benefits the Alexandria Fire Department.
Angel Tree Registration
Registration for this year’s Angel Tree is one day only on Thursday, November, 7, 2024. There are NO EXCEPTIONS. Application time is from 9:00 am - 6:00 pm at the First Baptist Church Life Enrichment Center under the carport. Applicants must be DeKalb County residents. Children from birth to no older than age 12 by December 25, 2024 are eligible. You must bring photo identification and a bill with the correct current DeKalb County address of the person applying. You must also provide social security cards and birth certificates (Mother’s copy is okay) for all children listed on the application. Guardian paperwork for temporarily placed children is acceptable. Documents are returned to the applicant, only the application is kept. Please make sure you fill out the application as completely and accurately as possible. If an applicant cannot appear in person, their application can be submitted by someone else as long as all of the required information and documentation is presented. Come prepared with all of the necessary documentation to complete your application between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm on Thursday, November 7th. This is the only day that applications will be available and accepted. NO EXCEPTIONS. For additional information please contact Laura Stone (text only please) at 615-464-7135. Local Work Group (LWG):
Every year the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) seeks public comment on how NRCS Farm Bill programs are administered in conjunction with the DeKalb County Soil Conservation District (SWCD). The County SWCD assembles the LWG and will be holding an open forum on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 9 a.m. in the USDA Building, Conference Room. Address is 647 Bright Hill Road, Smithville, TN, 37166. Meeting information is below. We invite agricultural producers, community stakeholders or concerned citizens of DeKalb County to give input as to what priorities NRCS should give to addressing the following resource concerns for 2025: Aquatic Habitat, Concentrated Erosion, Degraded Plant Condition, Field Pesticide Loss, Field Sediment, Nutrient, and Pathogen Loss, Fire Management, Livestock Production Limitation, Pest Pressure, Soil Quality Limitations, Source Water Depletion, Storage and Handling of Pollutants, Terrestrial Habitat, Wind and Water Erosion. Last Minute Toy Shop Registration
Pre-registration for the 2024 Last Minute Toy Shop will be held December 3 thru 6 from 4-7pm. In the cafeteria of the DeKalb County Complex. You must provide ID, proof of residency, why help is needed and birth certificates for each child. Children of DeKalb County ages birth thru 18 and still in school are eligible. You will be given an appointment for shopping day which will be held on December 14, 2024. God's Grace Ministry Toy Drive
Toy drive to be held Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024 at Cumberland Presbyterian Church located at 201 S. College Street, Smithville. The hours are from 8am- until noon. This is not only open to DeKalb but surrounding counties, as well.
Coat and Toy Drive
Cash Express has launched its 19th annual coat and toy drive. They accepting toys, coats, shoes (washable) clothing and non-perishable food items at many drop-off locations throughout the county, as well as, their office at 409 East Broad Street, Smithville.. All donations must be received by Dec. 15 in order to have them delivered in time for Christmas. They will also hold a bake sale on November 1, November 15 and December 3 where all money will go toward the drive.
Parkerson’s Support Group
The Parkinson’s support group will have their next meeting on November 12, 2024. Please note the change which is due to Caney Fork Baptist Church being a polling place. Friendship Fun Night at Liberty Community Center, Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 5pm. Bingo, cards, prizes, chili, soups, hotdogs and desserts$10 per person. Children six and under is free.
FCE Meetings
The FCE will be meeting the 2nd Tuesday of each month. The meeting will be held at 10 a.m. at the DeKalb County Complex in the Motlow Conference room. Everyone is invited to attend.
Free Meals for Seniors
Alexandria Activity Center is offering a free congregate meal to anyone age 60 and older at 11:00 AM Monday through Friday. Please call 615-529-2928 or text 931-259-6568 a day in advance to reserve your meal. We are located at 330 Edgewood St, Alexandria, TN 37012 (just past the fairgrounds on the right). The Center opens at 8:00AM. We offer free daily activities including card games, shooting pool, puzzles, arts & crafts, etc.
