Third district commissioner Bobby Johnson tendered his resignation at the end of Monday night’s regular monthly meeting of the commission. Johnson announced that he was resigning immediately due to other business he needed to take care of. Johnson also expressed his thanks to everyone saying he enjoyed working with them.
After his announcement, the commission accepted his resignation by a voice vote. Seventh district member Bruce Malone was the only commissioner voting not to accept Johnson’s resignation.
A successor to Johnson will be named later by the commission to complete Johnson’s unexpired term which ends on August 31, 2022. Johnson was in his first term as commissioner. He was elected in 2018.
Johnson’s departure comes four months after Dennis Slager resigned as first district commissioner. Shaee Flatt was appointed by the commission in January to complete Slagers unexpired term which ends August 31, 2022.
