There was no rest for Smithville Police over the holidays, with several arrests being made for drugs, assaults and DUI.
On December 18, 52-year-old Jason Holder of Murfreesboro was arrested for out of county warrants and cited for speeding, driving on a revoked license, financial responsibility, and having an unregistered vehicle.
According to Smithville Police Chief Mark Collins, an officer stopped a vehicle on Allens Ferry Road for speeding. After a check through dispatch, it was found that Holder had active warrants out of Rutherford County.
That same day, 44-year-old Nathan Wilbert of Smithville was arrested for vandalism.
Chief Collins reported that officers responded to the Smithville Laundromat in reference to a vandalism call. Upon arrival, officers found the glass door of the business shattered. The owner of the property advised that nothing was missing from the property.
After a review of security footage, Wilbert was identified as the suspect. He was taken into custody a short time after, and is under a $8,500 bond. He is due in court on January 16.
On December 19, 57-year-old Roger Weiker of Smithville was arrested for driving under the influence. He is under a $1,500 bond and will be in court on January 9.
Officers responded to Miller Road in reference to a report of a single-car accident. Upon arrival, they made contact with the driver, Weiker, who was reportedly unsteady on his feet with a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person.
Weiker reportedly admitted to drinking alcohol and refused to submit to field sobriety tasks. He was placed in custody.
On December 27, 39-year-old Crystal Bashaw of Smithville was arrested for domestic assault. She is under a $3,500 bond and is due in court on January 9.
Chief Collins said that officers responded to East Broad Street in reference to a domestic situation in progress. Upon arrival, officers made contact with Bashaw and the victim in the case. Officers allegedly found physical evidence of an assault and determined Bashaw as the primary aggressor.
That same day, 64-year-old Bobby Moore of Smithville was arrested for aggravated assault. He is under a $17,500 bond and will be in court on January 9.
Police responded to Holmes Creek Road in reference to a disturbance with an armed male. Upon arrival, officers spoke with neighbors and family members, who reported that Moore had been drinking and gotten into an argument that turned physical.
Moore allegedly pulled a knife, using a slashing motion towards the victim, slicing through two layers of clothing in the stomach area. Moore allegedly admitted to using the knife and was placed in custody.
On December 30, 26-year-old Dakota Vance of Smithville was arrested for domestic assault, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a schedule II drug, and driving on a revoked license. She is under $16,000 bond and is due in court on January 9.
Officers responded to Mapco in Smithville for a report of a domestic situation. Upon arrival, police spoke with the victim and review camera footage. Officers found evidence of an assault and determined that Vance was the primary aggressor.
Vance was gone upon officers’ arrival, but later returned to Mapco and was placed in custody.
On January 2, 48-year-old Tiffany Hendrixson of Smithville was arrested for DUI. She is under a $2,500 bond and will be in court on January 16.
Chief Collins reported that police responded to DeKalb Middle School in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a white Chevy Impala that was running in reverse. Hendrixson was found inside, passed out with her foot on the brake.
Officers were able to put the vehicle in park, and upon waking Hendrixson up, found several indicators of impairment. Police say she was confused, had slurred speech, and displayed erratic behavior. She allegedly performed poorly on all sobriety tasks and admitted to using drugs. She was then placed in custody.
