The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department had a light week last week, making a few arrests for some violent offenses. One incident left a correctional officer with wounds from an attack at the DeKalb County Jail.
Sheriff Patrick Ray told the Smithville Review that 28-year-old Dustin Allen Sullivan of Parsley Road, Smithville, was arrested on May 9, for aggravated assault and assault on a first responder. He is under a $10,000 bond.
Sheriff Ray reports that a correctional officer from the DeKalb County Jail was with other officers, trying to remove restraints from Sullivan when the man became irate, and tried to move forward in an aggressive manner. The correctional officer moved Sullivan to a wall, away from other officers, when the man struck the correctional officer with a closed fist on the left side of the head.
Authorities also allege that during this time, Sullivan bit the correctional officer on his right forearm, breaking the skin and bringing blood.
On May 8, 48-year-old Ginger Elaine Moore of McMinnville Highway, Smithville, was arrested for violation of an order of protection. She is under a $3,500 bond and is due to appear in court on May 25.
A deputy responded to McMinnville Highway on a report of someone violating an order of protection. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with a female who advised that here daughter, Ginger Moore, was at her residence. It was confirmed through Central Dispatch that the order of protection was active from May, 6, 2023, and that the complainant was the protected person.
On May 10, 22-year-old Elijah Knite Bass of Midway Road, Smithville, was charged with domestic assault. He is under a $3,500 bond and will appear in court on May 25.
On May 9, a deputy responded to the Sheriff’s Department on a report of an assault. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with a female who advised that she and her boyfriend, Bass, arrived home from Murfreesboro and got into a verbal argument, when it turned physical. The woman reported that Bass hit her with a closed fist on her face, and bit her, then pushed her out of a doorway onto the ground.
The woman reportedly had a red spot with blood where she had reported she had been bitten, as well as a busted lip, blood on her shirt, and dirt on her leg from where she was pushed out of the doorway.
