Bad day for truck driver
rig

A truck driver had a bad day in DeKalb County last week after his rig overturned on a busy stretch of roadway. There were no injuries reported, but the crash snarled traffic for a time.

According to Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Andrew Collier, 28-year-old Omar Hussein of Columbus, Ohio, was traveling south on Highway 56 (Cookeville Highway), near the Cherry Hill area, in a 2016 Freightliner semi-tractor trailer when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned on its right side. The truck destroyed a portion of the guardrail on the roadway.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department, DeKalb Fire Department, and DeKalb EMS also responded to the scene. No citations were issued.
