BIDEN OUT; HARRIS IN
Leeann Judkins

She answered the call.  Never mind that she is black and a woman.  She is the highest-ranking female official in United States history.  And, she’s only 59-years-old.

Moments following, the delegates to the Democratic National Convention “are leaning toward the 49th Vice President Kamala Devi Harris after President Joe Biden announced on Sunday afternoon that he was dropping out of the 2024 Presidential race,” wrote The Tennessean newspaper.

Vice-president, Kamala Harris, now has become the Democratic nominee for President of the United States and her Republican opponent is former President, Donald John Trump, age 78 years.  The attorney and politician was born on October 20, 1964 in Oakland, California.  Trump is 19-years-older than Harris.

Biologically, Harris’ life and activities occurred in California.  She was the United States Senator from California from 2017-2021; 32nd Attorney General of California from 2011 – 2017; 27th District Attorney of San Francisco from 2004-2011.  She became Vice-President on January 20, 2021.  Harris sought the 2020 Democratic Presidential Nomination but withdrew before the primaries.

She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Howard University and her Doctor of Jurisprudence (Law) from the University of California in Hastings.

In 2014, she was married to Doug Emhoff, also an attorney.   Harris is the step-mother of his two children.  They have no children together.

The written logo on her website reads, “Fighting for the people and delivering for America.”  As Vice-President, she was the first woman, the first black American, and the first South Asian American to be elected to this position.

Upon her acceptance as a Presidential candidate on Sunday, she issued the following brief statement: “I intend to earn and win this nomination.” This is the first time in American Political History that the above incident has occurred.  There has never been a female president.  The only black president was Barack Obama.
