A local teen who snatched $80,000 worth of jewelry from the hands of a jeweler at Cool Springs Galleria last week is wanted by Franklin police.
The youth, Jario Godinez, 18, is a Smithville resident and lawmen suspect he may return to his hometown. Franklin authorities say the incident happened on the afternoon of Oct. 26 inside Grogan Jewelers when Godinez grabbed a tray containing about a dozen tennis bracelets from the hands of a salesperson. He then ran from the scene and was able to elude mall security before making his way to the parking lot where he disappeared.
Franklin police are hoping someone may spot him if he returns to Smithville. Anyone who sees Godinez may be in line for a reward as Crime Stoppers in Franklin is offering a cash bounty for information leading to the arrest of the teen jewel thief. Those having information on his whereabouts are asked to call 615-794-4000.
