Recently, the Caney Fork Chapter of the Tennessee Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution recognized Mrs. Carolyn Williams of Smithville for 30 years of service and membership in the genealogical organization.
Members of this organization can trace their ancestry to a soldier who fought or assisted in the struggle for American independence from Great Britain in 1776-1781. The group supports patriotic, educational, and historical objectives.
One of the local projects is to select a Good Citizen from the senior class at DeKalb County High School each year. Mrs. Williams served as the chairman of the American Indian Committee for several years and always presented entertaining and informative reports to the group. Thank you, Mrs. Williams, for your service.
