Christmas Time

Christmas time for me as a child was a wonderful thing you dream of all the toys you want from Santa. You go through the Sears Roebuck and look at all the wonderful toys you want or you think you need circling the toys or folding back the pages so you go back and show your parents. Come Christmas morning you forget about all the things you wrote down on your Christmas list and open the ones you have with excitement. In my Christmas stocking I would have an orange, apple, nuts and of course a candy cane. Back then everyone had a nut cracker with the picks in a stand. We would spend the rest of the day playing with our toys or going outside. We usually had snow back then to play in.

Seems like as you grow older you lose some of the sweetness of Christmas that you had as a child. But as you grow older you learn more about what Christmas really is the day we celebrate our Savior Jesus Christ being born and that is the most precious gift of all. Without his birth and resurrection we would be lost in a dying world going straight to hell. Our rejoicing should be about our Savior who saved us from this world of sin to live with Him one day in heaven. If you don’t know Him as your Savior call out to Him before it is too late.

Now as you grow up and have children of your own that special feeling around Christmas time comes back. You want your children to have a nice Christmas just like you did when you were little. Also please teach them about our Savior Jesus. But we tend to over spend and buy everything for them. I know I have been caught up in the over spending at times. But as adults I cannot think of one thing that I really want for Christmas other than my family having a good Christmas and all of us to be healthy. I do have some family that I pray for to come to the Lord and I hope and pray to see that happen. Pray for your loved ones and friends.

I know this year like last year we all know someone that has had Covid or lost a loved one to Covid. Pray for these families, pray for them to have comfort at this time. My church family has had sickness and family to lose loved ones and I pray that the Lord will comfort them at this time. Send them a card just let them know you are thinking about them. Holidays are the worst time of the year to miss someone.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
