County Clerk James Lee (Jimmy) Poss has found himself in a bit of trouble after a family squabble turned to police charges. The case has to move through the court system, even though all involved say the incident has come to a resolution.
The incident occurred on October 4, at 2211 Bright Hill Road, the home of Poss’ father. According to the warrant, “Poss did assault Cameron Lester by putting his hands on his [Lester’s] chest and pushed him. Jimmy Poss’ actions caused Mr. Lester to fear imminent bodily injury and states of retaliation by Jimmy Poss for taking this summons.”
Poss was taken into custody and booked at the DeKalb County Jail. He has stated that he is innocent of the charge, and expects a dismissal when the case comes to court. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, October 12.
In a statement, attorney Jon Slager said, “Jimmy Poss is an upstanding public official, community volunteer, and leader of our community, who has held office for almost a decade. We look forward to having our day in court. We are confident in the judicial process and we look forward to having the charge against Jimmy dismissed.”
The victim in the case, Cameron Lester, also contacted the local media, saying “I am showing up to drop it [the case] Thursday [in Court] and that is the end of it. We (Jimmy and I) have hugged necks and said we love each other. I am not pursing anything. We have worked it out. We have talked and there is nothing going any further,” Lester said.
