DUIs and PIs Keep Smithville Police Busy

On November 9, 42-year-old Jeremy Tucker of Smithville was arrested for driving under the influence and cited for driving on a revoked license and violation of the open container law. He is under a $2,000 bond.

According to Smithville Police Chief Mark Collins, officers responded to an accident on Bryant Street. Upon arrival, police spoke with the drivers, including Tucker who allegedly smelled of alcohol. Authorities say that his speech was slurred and he was unsteady on his feet.

Tucker allegedly admitted to having consumed alcohol earlier, but he refused to submit to field sobriety tasks. He was then placed under arrest. His bond was $2,000.

On November 12, 20-year-old Kevin Martinez-Soto was arrested for underage driving while impaired. He is under a $3,500 bond.

Chief Collins said that police responded to an automobile accident on Walnut Street and upon arrival spoke with the driver, Soto, who smelled of alcohol. The man allegedly admitted to having consumed a couple of beers prior to the accident and he performed poorly on all sobriety tasks.

On November 17, police were dispatched to the County Complex on a report of a fight. Upon arrival, they met with a witness and determined that 21-year-old Dakota Faulk of Alexandria was the primary aggressor in a fight with a juvenile.

Faulk was placed under arrest for child abuse and is under a $3,500 bond.

On November 20, 44-year-old Nathan Wilbert of Smithville was arrested for public intoxication. He is under a $1,500 bond.

Chief Collins reported that officer responded to Anthony Avenue on a report of a man in the roadway acting erratically. Upon arrival, officers confronted the man, Wilbert, but they were unable to communicate with him because was as still acting in an erratic manner. He was placed in custody.
