Early voters and absentee votes totaled 1,488 during DeKalb’s early voting period July 17-August 1.

According to the DeKalb County Election Commission Office, 122 people cast ballots Saturday including 109 in person and 13 absentees. Of that number 93 voted in the Tennessee Republican Primary, 22 in the State Democratic Primary, and 7 voted only in the DeKalb County General Election without voting in either state primary.

The City of Smithville vote stands at 480 total through Saturday including in-person, absentee ballots, and 58 property rights voters. Forty seven people voted in the city election Saturday.

During the two week early voting period a total of 996 voted in the Tennessee GOP primary, 437 in the Tennessee Democratic Primary, and 55 voted only in the DeKalb County General Election without voting in either state primary.

Election Day voting at all 15 precincts will be from 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 6.
