Early voting for the Presidential Election begins October 14

Mondays 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursdays 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. (except the last Thursday, Oct. 29 when the hours will be 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.), Fridays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (except the last Friday, October 23 when the hours will be 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.), Saturdays 9 a.m. to Noon.

Driver’s License Checkpoint, Oct. 16

The Tennessee Highway Patrol will be conducting a driver license checkpoint October 16, 2020 on Highway 96 in DeKalb County. Recognizing the danger presented to the public by drivers that are under the influence and unqualified drivers, Troopers will concentrate their efforts on vehicles being operated by drivers that violate the driver license laws of Tennessee. The Tennessee Highway Patrol has found driver license check points to be an effective means of enforcing driver license laws of Tennessee while ensuring the protection of Motorists.

Caney Fork Electric Cooperative Membership Meeting, Oct. 17

Members of Caney Fork Electric Cooperative are invited to the cooperative's annual membership meeting Sat., October 17, 2020 held in the student parking area at the Warren County High School. Due to Covid-19 precautions, CFEC will be hosting a drive-thru voting from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p. m. There will not be a business meeting held this year. Cooperative members voting in the director’s election will receive a free gift and will be registered for door prizes to be given away at a later time. (You do not have to be present to win). Make plans to join us in a drive-thru voting for the annual membership meeting of Caney Fork Electric Cooperative, Saturday, October 17, 2020 at the Warren County High School.

Food drive thru, Oct. 18

Snow Hill Baptist Church will have a drive through food pick up on Sunday, October 18, 2020. Please line up on the East side of the church and drive around. Someone will put the food in your car, no restrooms will be available. Services are at 10 a.m. each Sunday Morning. Everyone is welcome. Todd Pack is the Pastor.

Library Board Meeting, Oct. 22

The DeKalb County Library Board will have a special meeting on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 4 p.m. at Justin Potter Library. The public is welcome to attend the meeting. They will be required to wear a mask and have their temperature taken if they attend the meeting.

Commodity Distribution, Oct. 22

The Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency will hold a commodities distribution for DeKalb County on Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the DeKalb County UCHRA office. Sign up will be available at the distribution site. The UCHRA does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, sex, color, national origin, religion, or disability in admission to, access to, or operations of its program, services or activities.

Blood Drive, Oct. 22

DeKalb County Health Department will be having a blood drive on Thursday, October 22, 2020 the Blood Mobile will be in the parking lot. Please remember to eat a good meal, drink additional water.  Bring a Photo ID. All donors will receive a $10 Walmart Gift Card. All donors will be given a “Turn Over a New Leaf Mug.”

Driver’s License Checkpoint, Oct. 30

The Tennessee Highway Patrol will be conducting a driver license checkpoint October 30, 2020 on Highway 56 in DeKalb County. Impaired driving is a serious crime that kills more than 16,000 people and injures 3065,000 others every year in the United States. Troopers will evaluate drivers for signs of alcohol or drug impairment. Troopers will target those who operate a vehicle while impaired and take corrective actions for others violations observed while ensuring the protection of all motorists. The Tennessee Highway Patrol recognizes that sobriety checkpoints ae highly visible and effective tools in the battle against impaired driving.

Downtown Smithville Boo Bash, Oct. 30

Smithville Boo Bash starts at 12 pm to 5 pm on Friday, October 30th. Downtown stores with a pumpkin on there door are the ones participating.

Food Distribution, Oct. 31

Smithville Cumberland Presbyterian Church will hold a Mobile Food Pantry rain or shine on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at 9 a.m. All vehicles will line up facing North across from the church. Please only 2 households maximum per vehicle.

Evans Reunion, Oct

The Evans family reunion that is held in October is cancelled due to Covid 19. Hope to see everyone next year.
