The DeKalb County Fair honored one of its long-time supporters during its opening night last Monday. The Grandpa Fair of the South paid tribute to “Pa Jack” also known as Jack Underhill for his contribution and hard work at the fair over the years.

Underhill, a fixture at the fair over the years, passed away last November. A plague honoring Underhill states, “Jack’s commitment to the fair in maintenance, working, involvement, his smile, laughter and sitting on the porch waving and watching the crowd, will be greatly missed. The fair board, volunteers and all of DeKalb County are grateful for the selfless sacrifice of Jack Underhill for his many years of service to the DeKalb County Fair.”

Underhill’s family was joined by the DeKalb Fair Board during the commemoration.
