Fire Destroys Smithville Family’s Belongings
Fire

A fire at a Smithville residence last Friday night has left a local family without most of their belongings.

At 8:03 p.m., the Smithville Fire Department was dispatched to the home of Angie Campbell at 424 Morgan Drive on the report of a fire. According to Smithville Fire Chief Charlie Parker, no one was at home at the time of the call.

Authorities say that the fire looks to have started in the kitchen and dining room area of the home, and fire crews were able to contain the blaze and keep it from spreading to other areas of the house. Despite the efforts of firefighters, much of the home received severe smoke and water damage, with the family losing much of their belongings.

The local chapter of the American Red Cross was contacted to provide assistance to the family. No injuries were reported during the incident.
