Firefighter Respond to Dowelltown Blaze
Fire

On Thursday, September 5, at 2:22 p.m., the DeKalb County Fire Department was dispatched to 450 South Mill Street, Dowelltown, for a reported commercial structure fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found that a large pile of wood pallets and other miscellaneous items under the pallets were on fire and the building was not on fire.

Due to the size of the fire, several vehicles were threatened. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and no vehicles or buildings were damaged.

The incident was referred to Tennessee Department of Environmental and Conservation Air Quality Division because evidence was present that indicated prohibited materials being burned under the pallets.

The Main and Liberty fire stations responded to the incident.
