The DeKalb County Fire Department is teaming up with the American Red Cross to help local residents get smoke alarms.

Smoke alarms are available to anyone in need of the device in DeKalb County, or any of the municipalities of Smithville, Liberty, Dowelltown, or Alexandria. The alarms will be installed for free on Saturday, May 21, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and will be done door to door upon request.

Anyone in need of a free smoke alarm is urged to contact Lieutenant Dustin Johnson of the DeKalb County Volunteer Fire Department at 615-598-2080.
