Friday Fire Claims Rental Home
Fire

DeKalb County Firefighters battled a house fire last Friday that destroyed a rental home off of Four Seasons Road.

DeKalb County Fire Chief Donny Green reported that at 1:45 p.m. the DeKalb County Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire on Cantrell Road in the Four Seasons area.

Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire showing from the structure and through the roof. Crews worked to gain control of the fire and prevented the fire from spreading. No injuries were reported and the home was a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The home was a rental property and the renter, Amanda Batey, had been moving out at the time of the blaze. No one was at home when the fire began.

Members of the Main Station, Short Mountain Highway, Four Seasons, Tanker 2, and Midway Station responded to the scene, along with county-wide personnel, the Rehab unit, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department, and DeKalb EMS.
