With the exception of a short rain delay during the afternoon, Friday went smoothly as the 48th annual Fiddlers’ Jamboree got off to a scorching start – literally – as temperatures peaked over 90 with humidity helping walkers sweat off the pounds.
Minus the sun cover for the stage which was destroyed during last week’s thunderstorm, performers had to brave the relentless heat, the toughest draw being square dancers who took to the stage for their aerobic routine dressed in thick festive clothing.
However, the late afternoon shower was just what the doctor ordered as those who braved the heat to move to the finals held Friday evening were rewarded with a comfortable night on stage.
