The man accused of fatally shooting 56-year-old Thomas Dwayne Thomason at a Smithville home last summer is among several others that have been indicted by the DeKalb County Grand Jury last week. A total of 23 were named in regular indictments along with seven in sealed indictments.
Jarrett Manning, 39, of Ferrell Road was indicted for second degree murder in the case that occurred on Saturday, July 22, outside a residence on Kings Court Circle in the Midway Community.
DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Brian Williams reported that Thomason suffered a gunshot wound outside in front of his home and died after being transported by DeKalb EMS from the scene. The shooting was reported to Central Dispatch at 2:12 a.m. (July 22) and a deputy was on the scene within minutes.
Manning was reportedly on the scene at the time of the officer’s arrival. A handgun, believed to have been used in the shooting, was recovered at the scene. No motive has been announced.
Assisting the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department with the investigation were the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, an Investigator of the 13th Judicial District Attorney’s General’s Office, and Assistant DA Greg Strong. The Smithville Police Department helped secure the scene.

Patsy Lynn Estes for possession of a schedule II drug (methamphetamine) with intent to sell/deliver over 0.5 grams (2 counts), possession of a schedule II drug (cocaine) with intent to sell/deliver under 0.5 grams, possession of a schedule II drug (Fentanyl), possession of a schedule II drug (ANPP), aggravated burglary, and introduction of contraband into a penal facility.

Four more people were picked up by the Sheriff’s Department on sealed indictments.
Thomas Joseph Baumann, Jr. 78, of Braswell Lane was charged with rape. According to the indictment Baumann, between the dates of April 1 and August 1, 2023 allegedly intentionally and knowingly had sexual contact with a woman knowing that she was mentally defective and a vulnerable adult. Bond for Baumann is $150,000. This case was investigated by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department.
William Lloyd Wooldridge, 77, was charged with solicitation of a Minor, Sexual Battery, and Indecent Exposure. The indictments against him allege that on or about May 11 to June 1, 2023 Wooldridge knowingly and intentionally exposed himself to and had sexual contact with a 16-year-old minor.
Wooldridge also allegedly by means of electronic communication intentionally requested, persuaded, invited, or attempted to induce the same 16-year-old to engage in inappropriate and illegal conduct on May 26, 2023. His bond is $100,000.
Damion Alexander Dishman, 24, was picked up for Sale and Delivery of a Schedule I drug (Psilocybin or magic mushrooms). His bond is $150,000. According to the indictment, on or about January 9, 2023, Dishman allegedly unlawfully and knowingly sold and delivered a schedule I controlled substance (Psilocybin) in an amount over 0.5 grams. This case was investigated by the Smithville Police Department.
Bradley John Baker, 56, is charged with Sale and Delivery of a Schedule II drug (methamphetamine). His bond is $250,000. The indictment alleges that on or about January 20, 2023 Baker allegedly unlawfully and knowingly sold a schedule II-controlled substance (methamphetamine) in an amount over 0.5 grams. This case was investigated by the Smithville Police Department.
Scott Ferrell of South Tittsworth Road, Smithville, was picked up on a sealed indictment for second-degree murder, and two counts of Schedule II Drugs (Cocaine). His bond is $500,000, and he is to appear in court on December 13.
