A drug investigation by the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office has led to the arrest of a suspected drug dealer out on bond in DeKalb County.
According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, on September 14, members of the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Appalachian HIDTA, National Guard, and Homeland Security executed a search warrant at the home of Nathan J. Trapp at 379 Magness Road in Smithville.
The search resulted in the finding of 48.55 grams of methamphetamine, 74 Xanax pills, one Sig Sauer P365 pistol, one Ruger SR22 pistol, cash, and various items of paraphernalia such as scales, baggies, pipes, etc.
Trapp has been charged with meth manufacture deliver sell or possess, sale and delivery of a schedule IV drug (Xanax), unlawful possession of a weapon, and drug paraphernalia. His bond on these new charges is $202,500. Trapp was currently out on bond for charges including meth manufacture deliver sell or possess over 300 grams and unlawful possession of a weapon stemming from another search warrant executed on his residence by the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office in August of 2022.
The search in August of 2022 resulted in the finding of 623.67 grams of methamphetamine, an AR-15 rifle, handguns, and other illegal narcotics. Trapp is a convicted felon and is not allowed to possess firearms.
Sheriff Ray said that he will be asking the District Attorney General’s Office to seek a bond revocation on Trapp’s first charges.
