The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department made several arrests over the past couple of weeks, including a Midway couple charged with a host of drug charges.
According to Chief Deputy Brian Williams, 48-year-old Chad Wilson Johnson of Midway Road, Smithville, was arrested for prescription drug fraud, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of a weapon, four counts of possession of a controlled substance manufacture deliver sell or possess. He is under a $117,500 bond and is due in court on January 9, 2025.
On December 12, a sheriff’s department detective assisted officers with the Tennessee Department of Probation and Parole with a probation search on Johnson at a residence on Midway Road. During the search, a pill bottle with one orange pill believed to be Gabapentin was found, along with baggies, pipes, straws, containers with residue, and scales which are usually used in the sale of narcotics.
Another pill bottle containing 93 pills believed to be Eszopiclone was also found, along with a bottle containing one half of a peach-colored pill believed to be Tramadol, as well as another bottle containing 15 white pills believed to be pregabalin.
Authorities say that the pill bottles found had different names on them and required prescriptions to possess.
In addition, 16 12-guage shotgun shells, seven 16-guage shells, 52 .22 WMR bullets, two 17 HMR bullets, one .380 auto bullet, and two .44 mag bullets were found. Johnson is a convicted felon on a meth charge in 2019, and is not allowed to be in possession of any firearms or ammunition.
Also arrested at the scene was Johnson’s wife, 41-year-old Amber Dawn Dishman. She was arrested for four counts possession of a controlled substance manufacture deliver sell or possess, possession of drug paraphernalia, and prescription drug fraud.
She is under a $112,500 bond and is due in court on January 9.
In other sheriff’s news, on December 5, 38-year-old Amanda Nicole Wilson of Shady Place, Smithville, was arrested for resisting arrest. She is under a $5,000 bond and will be in court on December 19.
A deputy attempted to place Wilson in custody for two active violation of probation warrants, and allegedly attempted to pull away from the deputy, resulting in authorities having to use reasonable force to take the woman into custody.
On December 9, 40-year-old Raymond Austin Simpson of Church Street, Dowelltown, was arrested for domestic assault and child abuse or neglect. He is under an $8,000 bond and will appear in court on December 19.
Chief Deputy Williams alleged that Simpson wrestled a juvenile to the ground causing a laceration to his right brow. They also allege that he grabbed a female subject by the hair of the head, lifting her off of the couch and pulling her into the bathroom.
Also arrested last week was 41-year-old Jarrett Darnail Guy of Smithville was arrested for domestic assault and violation of an order of protection. He is under a $10,000 bond.
On September 3, 2024, a deputy responded to Walker Creek Road in reference to a domestic violence case. Upon arrival, the deputy met with a female subject who advised that her ex-husband, Guy, had swiped her across the face and made threats that he would hit her in the mouth if she didn’t shut her mouth.
Chief Deputy Williams said that Guy was already gone at the time of their arrival, and also had an order of protection served on him out of Wilson County stating that he could only have peaceful interactions with him and his wife.
On December 12, 64-year-old Paul Edgar Rowland of Hawkins Drive, Smithville, was arrested with violation of bond conditions. He is under a $1,000 bond and will be in court on December 19.
A deputy responded to Hawkins Drive for a welfare check on a female subject. The deputy made contact with the female and Rowland outside the residence, and the woman advised that they were having a Bible study. Rowland had been arrested in November 11, 2024, for domestic assault and was under bond conditions.
That same day, 25-year-old Justin Daniel Todd of Big Woods Road, Smithville, was arrested for DUI and driving on a revoked license. He is under a $5,000 bond and will appear in court on January 9.
A deputy was traveling north on McMinnville Highway when he observed a Chevy Silverado leave its lane of travel multiple times, as well as pacing the vehicle at 62 mph in a 55-mph zone.
After a traffic stop, the deputy made contact with the driver, Todd, who allegedly had an odor of alcohol coming from his person, red watery eyes, and was unsteady on his feet. He denied consuming alcohol prior to driving and was asked to perform field sobriety tasks, which he refused. His license also came back as suspended due to failure to appear for a case in December 2023.
On December 14, 34-year-old Timothy Ryan Lawson of Poss Road, Smithville, was arrested for aggravated assault. He is under a $50,000 bond and is due in court on January 9.
A detective responded to Ascension Saint Thomas DeKalb Hospital and made contact with a female who advised that Lawson had put his arm around her neck and began to strangle her, causing her to be unable to breath and urinate on herself, and placing her in fear of serious bodily injury or death.
