Billy “Jason” Lackey, 44 of Smithville was arrested and charged with domestic assault on Nov. 19.Sheriff Patrick Ray said a Sheriff’s Department deputy was dispatched on Nov. 3 to the area of Short Mountain Highway and Whorton Springs Road for a rolling domestic. The deputy made contact with a female who said she and Lackey had an argument and he had punched her in the face. Lackey admitted to hitting her, but said it was in self-defense. However, he had no visible signs, but the female had a large knot and bruise on the right side of her face. She was transported to the hospital. He is to appear in court Nov. 19.
Joshua Donald Watson, 29, of Chestnut Mound was arrested and charged with aggravated assault on Nov. 4. A sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence on Happy Valley Drive where he made contact with a female and Watson. The female had red marks around the right side of her neck. She and Watson had gotten into an argument, and he choked her. He is to appear in court Nov. 19.
Brianna Joy Cummings, 25, of Liberty was arrested on Nov. 7 and charged with fugitive from justice. Her bond was set at $25,000, and she is to appear in court Nov. 19. A deputy, who did a traffic stop, found that Cummings was listed in the National Crime Information Center as a fugitive from justice out of Boone County, Kentucky.
Shannon Eugene Tayes, 51, of Dowelltown was arrested on Nov. 7 for first offense DUI. A sheriff’s department deputy who was patrolling on Sparta Highway saw a red Chevrolet Camaro cross over the white line twice. After conducting a traffic stop, the deputy found the driver, Tayes, to have slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol. Tayes did admit to consuming two to three beers earlier. Upon performing standard sobriety tasks, Tays said due to his medical conditions he could not complete them. The deputy saw an open container of Budweiser in the passenger seat. Tayes was also written citations for implied consent, roadways for travel and open container.
