Lydia Brown has been named DeKalb County Homecoming Queen, voted the honor by the student body as homecoming week has arrived.
Brown, a senior at DeKalb High, is the daughter of Stephen and Amanda Brown and has been active in school both academically and in sports. She is a member of FBLA, the Climate Crew, BETA and the Spanish Club. She is a cheerleader and runs with the cross country team and plays on the softball and basketball teams. She was an NCA All-American her freshman year and was a District 8AA honorable mention and All District her junior year. She was also voted outstanding Junior Girl that year and is a member of Salem Baptist Church youth group.
Joining her on her court is senior attendant Madison Judkins. She is the daughter of Tammy and Jeremy Judkins and is a member of First United Methodist Church and attends Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She has served as a manager on the football team for four years and is a
member of Senior BETA, HOSA, FFA,
the Literature Club, Science Club, Spanish Club and the Climate Crew.
Zoe Maynard is also a homecoming attendant for the senior class. She has been a cheerleader for four years for both football and basketball cheer and is captain of the squad. She won best jumps and best stunts in her cheer capacity and is an Honors Student. She has performed 72 hours of public service and went on a mission trip to Ensenada, Mexico. She is also a four-year All-American nominee.
Katherine Anne Malone is junior attendant. She is the daughter of Kevin and the late Dana Malone and is a three-year member of the DCHS cheerleading squad. She is also a member of FBLA, Senior BETA, FFA, the Science Club, the Literature Club and Climate Crew. She is an honor student with a 4.0 GPA, a two time NCA All-American nominee and was voted best dancer her sophomore year. She is a member of the First Baptist Youth Group.
Abigail Lawson is the sophomore attendant. She is the daughter of David and Melissa Lawson and is a straight-A student with a 4.0 average. She attends Old Fashion Free-will Baptist Church and is a member of BETA and FFA.
Haidyn Hale is freshman attendant. She is the daughter of Chad Hale and Melissa Odom and participates in basketball cheerleading and is a member of FBLA, FFA, Climate Crew and the Literature Club. She won the Good Citizenship Award in eighth grade as well as having the highest grade average in Math. She is Junior BETA president and is in the Top 10 in grade point average. She participates in DeKalb Performing Arts.
Homecoming presentation at the football field will begin at 6:30 p.m., Sept. 28.
