A Smithville man was airlifted to UT Knoxville after a roll over crash early Monday afternoon.

Trooper Bobby Johnson with the Tennessee Highway Patrol said 20 year-old Peyton France was traveling east on Highway 288 new Jefferson Road in the Keltonburg Community when he failed to negotiate a curve. The 1999 Chevy Lumina left the road, went through a fence and clipped a utility pole before overturning and coming to rest on its top in a field. A passerby saw the crash and pulled France from the car.

He was treated at the scene by DeKalb EMS and taken nearby to a helicopter landing zone at the Keltonburg Fire Station.
