On January 20, 31-year-old Edwin Ordonez Figueroa was arrested for DUI and cited for violation of the light law, financial responsibility, and driving on roadways laned for traffic.

According to Smithville Police Chief Mark Collins, a night officer observed a vehicle traveling in the middle of two lanes on West Broad Street with its lights off. Upon a traffic stop, the officer spoke with the driver, Figueroa, who allegedly exhibited signs of impairment.

Authorities say that Figueroa performed poorly on all sobriety tasks and admitted to drinking beer. He was placed in custody and given a $1,500 bond.

On February 3, 19-year-old Carly Pewitt of Smithville was cited for assault. Chief Collins reported that police responded to a disturbance call at Highland Drive, and upon arrival, noticed Pewitt strike another person. No injuries were reported.

The following day, 47-year-old Tommy Jones of Fayetteville, TN, was arrested for simple possession of a schedule II drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, and cited for violation of the light laws, and for an expired tag.

Chief Collins stated that an officer made a traffic stop on West Broad Street for a violation of the light law. Upon speaking to the driver, Jones, he began displaying a nervous behavior. Officers were made aware of previous drug charges and a K9 unit was deployed to the scene.

The K9 alerted on the vehicle and a bag containing 4.3 grams of a crystal-like substance believed to be meth, a grinder with a green leafy residue, and a cut straw with residue were located in the vehicle. Jones was arrested and is under a $6,000 bond.

That same day, 59-year-old Edward Caldwell of Smithville was cited for violation of registration, financial responsibility, and simple possession of a schedule VI drug. Amanda Knowles, 47, was also cited at the scene for simple possession.

According to Chief Collins, an officer conducted a traffic stop on North Congress Boulevard for violation of registration. During the stop, both Caldwell and Knowles were found to be in possession of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana.

On February 6, 21-year-old Kenneth Dodd of McMinnville was arrested for public intoxication. He is under a $5,000 bond.

According to Chief Collins, police responded to Short Mountain Highway in regards to a male in the middle of the road acting confused. Upon arrival, Dodd exhibited indicators of impairment and allegedly admitted to have been drinking.

On February 10, 23-year-old Cabrera Palomec of Smithville was arrested for DUI and cited for speeding, driving on roadways laned for traffic, unlicensed driver, financial responsibility, and for an open container. He is under a $2,500 bond and is due in court on February 27.

Chief Collins states that an officer conducted a traffic stop on East Broad Street for a speeding vehicle and failure to maintain lane of travel. Authorities say the driver, Palomec, exhibited signs of impairment and allegedly admitted to drinking. He refused field sobriety tasks, and several open containers of beer were found inside the vehicle.

On February 19, 49-year-old Anthony Lewis of McMinnville was arrested for DUI second offense, and cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic and implied consent. He is under a $6,500 bond and will be in court on March 6.

According to Chief Collins, an officer made a traffic stop on a vehicle on Congress Boulevard for failure to maintain lane of travel. Upon speaking with the driver, Lewis, police say he exhibited signs of impairment. He then allegedly performed poorly on all field sobriety tasks.

On February 17, 42-year-old Hollie Michels of Lebanon was arrested for violation of bond conditions, after officers responded to a disturbance call on Jennings Lane. Officer found Michel at the residence, and Central Dispatch confirmed that the woman had been previously arrested for domestic assault and been placed under a no contact order with the victim in the case at the home. She was placed under arrest and given a $3,500 bond with a court date of March 6.

The following day, officers were conducting extra patrols on Jennings Lane, when they noticed Michels’ vehicle in the driveway of the victim. Police found the woman inside the home and again placed her in custody, with a $7,500 bond.

Later, police responded to a domestic on North Congress Boulevard between two vehicles. Upon arrival, police again made contact with Michels and the victim. The victim reported that Michels had been following him and almost caused a vehicle accident. Michels was placed in custody.

On February 19, 42-year-old Amber Rice of Smithville was arrested for DUI and implied consent. She is under a $2,500 bond and will be in court on March 6.

Chief Collins reported that an officer responded to Taco Bell in reference to a female passed out in a vehicle. Upon arrival, police found Rice passed out in the drivers’ seat with the vehicle running. After speaking with the woman, authorities say she exhibited signs of impairment. Rice reportedly performed poorly on all sobriety tasks and admitted to using marijuana.

On February 20, 38-year-old Justin Murphy of Smithville was arrested for violation of an order of protection, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a schedule I drug, possession of a schedule II drug, two counts of possession of a schedule IV drug, and possession of a schedule V drug. He is under a $24,500 bond and is due in court on March 6.

Chief Collins states that police responded to Highland Drive in reference to a male violating an order of protection. Central Dispatch confirmed an order of protection on Murphy, and upon arrival, officers made contact with Murphy outside the home.

Murphy then fled the scene out the back door of the house, and began pulling items out of his pockets and throwing them to the ground. The items were later identified as numerous illegal drugs and paraphernalia. Murphy was taken into custody.

On February 23, 25-year-old Samuel Catillo of Smithville was arrested for DUI and cited for no drivers license and financial responsibility. He is under a $2,000 bond and is due in court on March 13.

Chief Collins reported that police responded to an accident on East Broad Street, and spoke with the driver, Castillo, who reportedly exhibited indicators of impairment. Castillo allegedly stated that he had been drinking several beers. He performed poorly on field sobriety tasks and was placed under arrest.
