More Officers Hired in Alexandria
Alexandria officers
Officers Max Goodpasture, Vincent Turocy, and John Jenkins take the Oath of Office at the Alexandria meeting.

The Town of Alexandria added a few more officers to its department last week during the town’s regular meeting of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen. Three officers were hired, after one new hire, Veronica Dodge of Sparta, had to resign due to circumstances with her employment with White County.

In addition, newly appointed Police Chief Kenneth (K.D.) Smith reported that he was undergoing recertification, after it was learned that his POST certification had lapsed. He had to undergo testing to update his certification.

Those officers hired at the meeting included Max Goodpasture of Clarkrange.  He reported that he is retired from the Fentress County Sheriff’s Department, and formerly served as Police Chief at Gainesboro, with 35 years of law enforcement experience. He will serve as a full-time officer in Alexandria.

Two part-time officers were also hired, Vincent Turocy of Hendersonville and John Jenkins of Gordonsville. Turocy is a retired lieutenant with the Tennessee Highway Patrol (Nashville District), while Jenkins served as a full-time officer with the Gordonsville Police Department with 25-years of experience. He is also part-time with DeKalb EMS.

City Attorney Vester Parsley administered the oath of office to the new police officers during the meeting.
