Police Make Several Arrests

The Smithville Police Department has made several arrests over the past few weeks, with most calls resulting from drug and alcohol incidents.

On April 10, 52-year-old Bradley Lynn Luna of 7173 Antioch Road was arrested for manufacture, delivery, sale, or possession of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony.

Police responded to the Mapco parking lot in reference to a man slumped over the wheel of a vehicle. Officers made contact with Luna who was found to be in possession of approximately 1.6 grams of a crystal-clear substance believed to be methamphetamine, a clear pipe, water pong, and a loaded 9mm Kimber handgun.

Luna is under a $10,000 bond and is due in court on May 26.

On April 12, 51-year-old Tisha Elaine Burns of 670 Miller Road was arrested for a warrant of arrest for crime in another state. Police made contact with Burns behind Food Lion and a driver’s license check with Central Dispatch revealed a probation violation for Schedule I & II drugs through NCIC. Dispatch did contact the State of Virginia who informed them that they would extradite.

Burns is under a $50,000 bond and will be in court on May 19.

On April 15, 47-year-old Jimmy Mason Page of 1638 Old Snow Hill Road was arrested for public intoxication. Police responded to Hardee’s in reference to an intoxicated male subject.

On arrival, police made contact with Page who was making erratic movements, had intense scratching, and hallucinating. All signs observed of Page indicted intoxication of drug abuse. Page was in the public and was arrested without incident for his safety and others in the area. He is under a $1500 bond and will be in court on May 5.

On April 17, Michael Robert Murray of Kentucky was arrested for DUI. While patrolling, police observed a vehicle with no taillights and observed the vehicle failing to maintain lane of travel. A traffic stop was conducted and the officer made contact with the driver, Murray ho had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person and red watery eyes and slurred speech.

Murray was asked and consented to field sobriety tasks to which he could not perform due to not being able to stand without something to hold him up. He is under a $3,500 bond and will appear in court on May 12.

That same day, 33-year-old Allan Robert Lester of 2155 Student Home Road was arrested for assault. Police responded to 1222 South College Street in reference to a fight.

Upon investigation was discovered that Lester had gone to the victim’s residence and before leaving, struck the victim in the area of the face and head leaving visible marks. He is under a $3,500 and will be in court on May 5.

On April 20, 37-year-old Hector Herrera Cruz of 114 Campbell Lane was cited for driver’s license violation and leaving scene of an accident.

On April 18, police responded to a hit and run in the Wal-Mart parking lot. A surveillance camera shows a grey Chevrolet 3500 dually, back into the passenger side, rear quarter panel, of the victim’s car and drive off. It was unclear whether the driver of the truck knew he had collided with the car.

On April 20, the truck was spotted and a traffic stop was made. Cruz does not have a driver’s license and will appear in court on May 12.
