Summer is near and the Smithville Municipal Swimming Pool will opening for business next week.
The pool is set to open Friday, May 27, with opening day set as Report Card Day. Admission to the pool is Free for school aged children in DeKalb County. The pool capacity is 350.
Due to the lack of available lifeguards, the pool will not be open seven days a week this year. Pool hours will be from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and Sundays from 1 until 5 p.m. The pool will be open on Memorial Day, May 30.
Admission is $3.00 per person, but those ages two and younger will be admitted free. Anyone under age 13 must have a parent or guardian accompany them to the pool.
The pool currently has 12 lifeguards on staff and nine of them are on duty each day. The pool will remain open until school reopens.
