A local man was killed last Sunday afternoon after being involved in a motorcycle crash on I-24 in Nashville.

Authorities say that around 2:45 pm, 36-year-old Derek McIntosh of Smithville was riding a motorcycle and attempting to merge onto I-24 from Harding Place onramp when he struck the side of a semi. The motorcycle then reportedly went under the tractor-trailer.

Police and emergency personnel responded to the accident, but McIntosh was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say there is no evidence of impairment for either of the drivers.
