The National Weather Service has confirmed eight tornado touchdowns Monday night and Tuesday morning, one of the twisters hitting a farm in DeKalb County.
The home of Randy and Cheryl Campbell on Adamson Branch Road near Liberty was hit around 1 a.m. Tuesday as the storm front swept in from the west. The NWS has rated the twister an EF-1, meaning it may have packed winds up to 110 miles per hour. The farmhouse suffered minor damage but an outbuilding was destroyed and a barn heavily damaged.
One person was killed by the same storm system in Christiana in Rutherford County when her home was flipped onto its side by EF-2 winds up to 135 miles per hour.
Other touchdowns included EF-0 tornadoes in Lawrence, Wayne and White counties, an EF-1 in Auburntown in Cannon County and EF-2 tornadoes in Christiana and Franklin counties.
