The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department made several arrests last week, including two men who allegedly shot through a house while illegally deer hunting, and another man for allegedly choking his young child.

Sheriff Patrick Ray told the Smithville Review that 41-year-old Jeremie Donald Johnson of Alexandria to Dismal Road, Liberty, and 22-year-old Isaac Daniel Hall of Gassaway Main Street, Liberty, were both arrested on November 11, for two counts of reckless endangerment and vandalism.

On November 5, the Sheriff’s Department received a report of someone having a bullet shot through their home on Lower Helton Road, near Alexandria. According to Sheriff Ray, Johnson and Hall were illegally hunting deer from the roadway when an errant shot went through a house.

The bullet destroyed a window, interior walls, and a light fixture in the home, with an estimated cost of the damage exceeding $1,200. A man and a woman were also inside when the incident occurred.

Authorities say that Johnson engaged in conduct that placed a man and woman in immediate danger of death or serious bodily injury.

Johnson was also charged with possession of a weapon, after an the investigation on November 11, found him to be in possession of several firearms, even though he has different felony convictions for aggravated assault in both DeKalb and Wilson Counties on his record.

Johnson is under a $50,000 bond and is due in court on December 1.

Hall was additionally charged with aggravated burglary and theft of property after Sheriff’s officials alleged that on November 11, Hall entered a residence on Hurricane Ridge Road, with the intent to commit a theft. Hall did not have consent from the owner to be on the property. Officials say that Hall made off with a Remington 7mm rifle, a 22 caliber Ruger rifle, a .357 magnum Remington, and a 50 caliber muzzleloader, with a total value of $3,900.

Hall is under a $60,000 bond and is set to appear in court on December 1.

The TWRA is also investigating the two men for illegally hunting deer from the roadway.

On November 8, 38-year-old Dusten Ryan O’Conner of Allen Bend Road, Smithville, was charged with aggravated assault. He is under a $30,000 bond and is due to appear in court on December 1.

On October 30, a juvenile victim reported to a member of his school’s staff that his father, O’Conner, had choked him the night before until he passed out.

O’Conner was interviewed by Sheriff’s officials and allegedly confirmed that he strangled his son and that the child went limp. The mother corroborated the story telling authorities that she had also saw her son go limp.

When a DeKalb detective spoke with the victim, he noted and photographed a mark on the child’s neck, which appeared to be where a fingernail dug into the juvenile’s throat.

On November 12, 44-year-old Arturo Alfaro Munoz of South Mountain Street, Smithville, was arrested for failure to appear. He is under a $1,500 bond and he is due in court on December 1.
