A woman found herself in double-trouble after first being arrested for meth, then having the drug hidden in a body cavity while being booked into jail.
On January 25, 44-year-old Bridgett Nicole Vientos of Kendra Drive, Smithville, was charged for methamphetamine manufacture deliver sell or possess, sale and delivery of a schedule II drug (meth), simple possession of a schedule VI marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is under a $51,500 bond and she is set to appear in court of February 3.
A DeKalb Sheriff’s Department detective was patrolling McMinnville Highway when he noticed two vehicles pulled beside each other at Shiny Rock Market around closing time. According to law enforcement, a male got out of the passenger side of one of the vehicles and got into the passenger seat of the other vehicle, and appeared to be a possible drug transaction.
When the detective pulled into the parking lot, the two people in one vehicle appeared to be arguing. The driver of the vehicle was Vientos, who had active felony warrants out of Chattanooga, TN. Authorities say she admitted to having meth in the car and submitted to a search. Inside the car, authorities found a red bag with an estimated 1.5 ounces of meth, 1.57 grams of marijuana, a glass pipe, digital scales, a marijuana grinder, and a can of butane fuel. Another glass pipe was located in the center console of the vehicle, and a baggy with residue was located in the glovebox.
A piece of paper was also allegedly located with a list of names and number amounts, believed to be a drug transaction ledger located in the woman’s coin purse.
Vientos was later charged with introducing contraband into a penal institution. She has a $10,000 bond on those charges. Sheriff Ray said that on January 29, a female correctional officer conducted a strip search on Vientos and found a clear baggy containing a crystal-like substance hidden in a body cavity.
The same day, according to Sheriff Patrick Ray, 27-year-old Ronald Deshon Reeder of Smith Road, Smithville, was arrested on January 25, for violation of probation and violation of an order of protection. He is under an $11,000 total bond and he is due to appear in court on February 3.
Sheriff Ray said that a deputy went to Martin Street in Smithville in an attempt to locate Reeder for an active violation of probation warrant. The deputy located Reeder at the home and soon found that the man had an order of protection against him, prohibiting him from interacting with the residents of the home or being on the property. Authorities say that no other person was at the home at the time, but he was charged with the violation of the order of protection for being at the address.
On January 26, 39-year-old Lacy Lee West of Dry Creek Road, Dowelltown, was arrested for driving under the influence 2nd offense and violation of an order of protection. She is under a $10,000 bond and her court date is set for February 3.
Sheriff Ray said that a deputy was dispatched to a call concerning an unwanted guest on Dry Creek Road. Prior to the deputy’s arrival, the caller stated that the subject had driven away from the residence and was highly intoxicated.
The deputy later made contact with a vehicle matching the call’s description, travelling at a high rate of speed on Dry Creek Road. The vehicle then ran a stop sign and soon after the deputy conducted a traffic stop.
West advised that she was leaving her boyfriend’s house, who authorities later found had an order of protection against her. Authorities reported that West had a strong odor of alcohol coming from her person and that her speech was slurred. She submitted to field sobriety tests, but performed poorly on all tests.
On January 27, 47-year-old Micah Daniel Murphy of Adams Street, Smithville, was arrested and charged with assault. He is under a $1,500 bond and his set to be in court on April 18.
Sheriff Ray reported that Murphy was seen on surveillance cameras assaulting another inmate at the DeKalb County Jail. Officials allege that Murphy was seen striking a man multiple times in the face and head with a closed fist.
That same day, 53-year-old Ricky Lynn Murphy of Ferrell Road, Smithville, was charged with domestic assault, assault, and resist stop frisk halt or search. He is under a $4,500 bond and is due in court on February 17.
A deputy responded to Ferrell Road in response to a call reporting a domestic assault. Upon arrival the deputy made contact with a female who advised that Murphy had assaulted her by striking her in the head during an argument, causing a small laceration and minor bleeding. The female was reported to be an in-law and does live in the home with Murphy.
It was determined that Murphy was the primary aggressor. When the deputy attempted to place the man in custody, Murphy allegedly threatened another deputy on the scene by balling his fist and stating, “If you come near me, I will stick you.” The man then picked up a mop and held it in a threatening position. He then took off running as he was given verbal commands to stop. Murphy then entered a vehicle and locked the door. After ordering the man out of the vehicle, Murphy eventually got out and was placed under arrest.
On January 28, 46-year-old Jo Ann Luna of Bright Hill Road, Smithville, was arrested on a slew of charges including methamphetamine manufacture deliver sell or possess, and two counts of a controlled substance for sale and delivery.
She was also charged through an indictment handed down last December, charging her with four counts methamphetamine manufacture deliver sell or possess with intents, four counts of deliver sell or possess, and two counts of possession of a schedule II drug. She is under a $75,000 bond on those charges.
She was also charged with contraband into a penal institution and is under a $10,000 bond on those charges. A correctional officer was conducting a bunk search and discovered two envelopes containing a crystal-like substance. A baggy was also found with another that contained 12 grams of a crystal-like substance.
She is due to appear in court on February 10.
