Was your New Year’s resolution to lose weight and become healthier? Has your resolution already fallen by the wayside for 2019? What would it take to get you motivated? What if you were paid to lose weight? Too good to be true? It isn’t.
The Smithville Review along with its sister paper, the Southern Standard is offering a bounty to the two people who can lose the most weight over the spring. First prize is $750 cash. Second is $250, with the winner to be announced May 1. The initiative is the Better You Weight Loss Challenge which will be accompanied by a special health-centered tabloid issue called “Better You” which will appear in both papers Jan. 30.
To get involved you must first come to either the Smithville Review or Southern Standard for your first weigh-in. There is no appointment necessary. The beginning weigh-in will be held Jan. 18-25 during regular business hours. The final weigh in will be held April 22-29. The two who participants have dropped the most weight during that period will be awarded the prizes. The contest is free for anyone to enter; however, to be a participant you must make both weigh-ins in person. The winner will be total weight, not percentage of weight.
To keep the competitive juices flowing there will be a website where contestants can post their progress during the three-month event.
