Woman Arrested After Stabbing Man in Head

A Sparta woman is facing serious charges after she allegedly stabbed a man in Dowelltown several times.

According to DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Brian Williams, 43-year-old Christie Dawn Bouldin of Wigwam Street, Sparta, was arrested for aggravated assault. She is under a $65,000 bond and is due in court on October 24.

Chief Williams reported that on October 11, deputies responded to South Mill Street in Dowelltown on a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival the deputies made contact with the male victim, who had numerous stab wounds to his upper body and head. The man identified Bouldin as the aggressor, saying they were in a bedroom when they began arguing. He stated that she then knocked him to the ground, jumped on top of him, and began to stabbed him with a tire punch multiple times.

The victim suffered severe injuries and had to be flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center by a Lifeflight helicopter. Bouldin evaded authorities on Friday, but was arrested the following day.

In other news, the Sheriff’s Department is reporting the death of an inmate at the DeKalb County Jail.

In a press release, Sheriff Patrick Ray said that on October 11, at 3:35 a.m., an ambulance from DeKalb EMS was summoned to the DeKalb County Jail for a medical issue with one of the inmates. The inmate was reportedly unresponsive, but breathing.

During the transport of the inmate to Ascension Saint Thomas DeKalb Hospital, the inmate, 34-year-old Dustin Allen Pedigo of King Ridge Road, Dowelltown, was administered CPR. He was pronounced dead at Ascension Saint Thomas DeKalb Emergency Room.

On September 30, 22-year-old Deziree Lanore Deters of Edgefield Drive, McMinnville, was arrested for methamphetamine manufacture deliver sell or possess, and cited for driving on roadways laned for travel and no insurance. She is under a $5,000 bond and is due in court on October 24.

Deters was stopped for a traffic violation on Short Mountain Highway for leaving her lane of travel and gave consent to search her vehicle. During the search, a plastic bag with a piece of paper containing a crystal-like substance believed to be meth was located behind the driver’s seat.

Also arrested at the traffic stop was 58-year-old Paul Green Cantrell of Old Blue Springs Road, Smithville, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, fabricating or tampering with evidence, and methamphetamine manufacture deliver sell or possess. He is under a $61,500 bond and is due in court on October 24.

Cantrell was asked to exit the vehicle after consent to search, and upon getting out he allegedly reached into his pocket and threw an item into the grass. A clear glass pipe with residue, used for smoking meth, was found. A search of his person revealed a paper towel which contained a crystal-like substance believed to be meth. Cantrell allegedly admitted that the substance was meth.

On October 2, 38-year-old Ronald Joshua Carter of Carter Drive, Smithville, was arrested for unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is under a $17,500 bond and will be in court on October 24.

A deputy assisted a Tennessee Department of Corrections Probation officer with a probation search. During the search, 20 4-10 shotgun shells and 12 .22 long rifle bullets were found. Carter is a convicted felon on a drug charge in 2022, and is forbidden to possess any ammunition. Eight used needles, a can that had used cotton ball, and a baggy that had an orange powder residue believed to be fentanyl was found.

Also arrested at the scene was 23-year-old Anna Danielle Skelton and 33-year-old Jonathon Allen Knowles, who were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Each is under a $2,500 bond and will be in court on October 24.

Four glass pipes as well as two scales with residue were found in a bedroom at Carter Drive that belonged to Skelton’s and Knowles.

Also arrested at the scene was 39-year-old Jay Lee Mullican of Johnson’s Chapel Road, Sparta. He was charged with drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance for sale or manufacture. He is under a $52,500 bond and is due in court on October 24.

During the search of the home, a pill bottle with a pink powder and home-pressed pills, believed to be fentanyl, weighing 24.90 grams were found. When the homeowner was asked whose bedroom the drugs were found in, he stated that Mullican had been staying there and no one else had been in the bedroom. Two glass pipes with residue, a scale with residue, a box of baggies, a small baggy with a crystal-like residue, torn pieces of aluminum foil, and four straws with residue in the bedroom.

On October 3, 52-year-old Delvolon Wayne Skelton of Ferrell Road, Smithville, was charged with driving on a revoked or suspended license. He is under a $6,000 bond and will be in court on October 24.

A deputy was patrolling Ferrell Road, when he noticed Skelton driving a black Chevy S-10. Having prior knowledge of his license being revoked, and having multiple priors, the deputy located that man at a residence on Ferrell Road. Central dispatch confirmed Skelton’s license was revoked.

On October 5, 49-year-old Kris Waggoner of Gillen Drive, Sparta, was arrested for public intoxication. He is under a $1,500 bond and will be in court on November 7.

A deputy was dispatched to Phelps Road in reference to a male subject at a dump site, acting like he was under the influence. The deputy made contact with Wagoner who was sitting in the bed of his truck acting confused and twitching badly.

Authorities say the man was unsteady on his feet and was unable to stand. He was placed in custody due to him being a danger to himself and the general public.
