Woman sentenced for smuggling drugs into jail

Sentences were handed down recently in circuit court for offenders ranging from a woman who tried to smuggle drugs into the jail inside her body to a man convicted of violating the sex offender law.

Included in circuit court sentencing this past week:

 

Amy Ford, 40, entered a plea to the charge of introduction of contraband into a penal institution and was directed to serve three years to be served concurrently with other cases for which she is serving time. She was busted during a strip search at the jail where she was an inmate. A small baggie containing meth was found inside a body cavity during the search.

Walter Stringer, 42, entered a plea to violation of the sex offender law.  He was handed a two year probationary sentence but must serve 120 days in the DeKalb County Jail. Stringer failed to meet the Dec. 31, 2018 quarterly deadline for reporting to the sheriff’s department. All persons on the state registry are required to regularly check in with their present address.

Raymond Howard Rollins, 30, entered a guilty plea to theft of property over $10,000 and was given a five-year probationary sentence. His sentences comes for stealing a splicer valued at $11,000. Rollins reportedly to sell the splicer for profit but was caught.

Colt Warden, 34, entered a guilty plea to the charge of burglary and was given a four year TDOC sentence. He must serve six months before being released on probation. His sentences comes after he broke into JBeez Watercraft where he stole several items and broke into a safe using a pry bar and sledge hammer. Investigators say he shattered a glass window worth $2,000 to get inside before destroying the safe and taking a computer, radios and cash, all totaling $3,900.

Colten Gene Young, 21, entered a guilty plea to the charge theft over $2,500. He received a five year sentence to be served as 35 percent before first chance of parole. He was credited for a year and half of time he has already served. His charge comes for stealing trailers, a canoe and kayak back in the summer of 2017.

Joshua Joel Bain, 33, entered a guilty plea to the charge of domestic assault and was given an 11-29 probationary sentence. His charges come for striking a person during an altercation.

Lynn Jay Jones, 44, entered a guilty plea to DUI and was directed to serve 48 hours of an 11-29 sentence, pay $360 plus costs, attend safety school and forfeit her driver license for one year.
