All prayed up
Ginger Exum

Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in everything: for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. – 1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18

Have you ever tried to witness to someone or heard someone say, ‘I’m okay; I’m all prayed up’. Really? I could never be prayed up. God has blessed us with life; He has sacrificed His Son for our salvation; we have family who are lost and need Jesus … The list of prayer needs is endless. And, yet, we’ll hear that phrase once in a while; ‘I’m all prayed up’.

We can never be ‘all prayed up’. In fact, scripture admonishes us to pray constantly. That means making God first. We should pray to our almighty God as we would a dear friend. I’m just as guilty as anyone else in not praying enough; no one is. And yet, you’ll hear it again and again. You think you’re prayed up so you feel no need to be saved? You feel you have to need to be washed of your sins? Yet, to whom do you turn to when trouble comes knocking on your door? We run to God and pray. We can never be ‘all prayed up’. We need salvation now! We need to be praying continually! We need to pray for family, friends and each other.

So, the next time you hear someone say ‘I’m all prayed up’; remind them we are instructed to be in constant prayer, not just once in a while.
