Humming birds on the patio
Placeholder Image

The spring flowers are bringing the humming birds to this area. We saw the first humming bird on the patio April 14. Several days later the ruby-red throat was seen. We never feed them but they are here all summer going from bloom to bloom on the beautiful petunias.
The eastern bluebirds have nested in the white birdhouse which was bought at last year’s Smithville Jamboree.
It is amazing to watch these birds. The babies are out learning how to fly. There must be six or eight of them.
Just before dark they all fly close to the birdhouse with male and female guarding, one by one as they enter the small hole for the nights rest then the male and female go in last. The days work is done now the family of Eastern Bluebirds are together until the next day dawns.
The winds have been high in the valley with much needed rain for our farmers hay fields. The first cutting of hay will be soon.
