The Dry Creek community extends sincere sympathy to the family of Sarah Clark of Alexandria, who was killed Monday morning during heavy rains when her car hydroplaned in Liberty .Sarah was a very dear lady, always smiling and cheerful. Jimmy and Becky Womack visited Louise Frazier Thursday morning. They were on their way to the Amish country near Scottsville, Kentucky. They were checking to see if Louise needed any vegetables. She gave them a list, and they returned in the evening with everything she needed.
The Womacks know the Amish stores very well, and they know where to shop. They reported a nice trip and were back home about 3 p.m.
At home this week we have been canning ripe tomatoes and green tomato pickles for winter months.
Today, Wednesday, Rosie and I made grape jelly, 21 jars. Canning is somewhat new to Rosie, but she did just fine.
A storm came this afternoon, heavy winds out of the north, heavy rains and no electricity. Just talked to our daughter, Deborah Fuson in Cabot, Arkansas, and she told about WJLE news that reported much damage in Smithville from Wednesday storm of high winds. Someone had taken a picture of what looked to be a funnel cloud in the Smithville area.
There were trees down around Susan Hinton’s dwelling, but none hit the house. She and her husband were okay.
Trees were uprooted near Main Street and Bright Hill Road in Smithville.
Upper Helton had trees uprooted from the high winds.
We have not heard of any damage here in the Dry Creek valley, just leaves blown off trees and a few limbs on driveways.
We are thankful no lives were taken. The electricity was off for several hours.
