Jared and Jennifer Hendrix entertained with a birthday party honoring their son, Sawyer Allen on his second birthday on Oct. 4 at their home on the Hendrix farm. The house was beautifully decorated for the occasion. Over a hundred parents and cousins came to help Sawyer celebrate.
Henry and Natalie Frazier of Alabama came to help the Hendrix’s with the delicious refreshments.
Sawyer says "Thank you for coming to my birthday party and for all my nice gifts."
Having Sunday dinner at the home of Louise Frazier were Henry and Natalie Frazier, Monica Reynolds, Levy and Molly Jordan and Nicole Cripps, Christian and baby Claire, Jared and Jennifer Hendrix, Sawyer and Maggie Ann, Jimmy and Judy Kimbrell, Ricky and Ricky and Kathy Hendrix, and Kenny Edge.
Dry Creek Baptist Church was happy to see Brenda Womack and husband Bob attended her home church on Sunday. Their home is in West Virginia, where they both were educators, but are now retired. Brenda is a sister to well-known Jimmy Womack.
It was good to see Bertha McBride at the doctor’s office Monday morning. Bertha still has her sweet smile. Thank you to another dear lady who stopped to say hello. I knew her face but couldn’t recall her name.
My blessed doctor for many years, Dr. Jack Rhody, looked good, and Nurse Faye was so kind and patient. We are so thankful for their services.
Wow what a terrible fog this morning, Wednesday, which hovered over Dry Creek stream of water and almost reached my house. It’s sunny now.
It is wonderful that so many of our sick, shut-ins, and elder people can still read the printed pages. So many tell me that they read "Dry Creek Flashes." I believe them and send a big "Thank You." Years ago we read WWII letters to and from our boys in service whose parents, The Bob Murphy family could not read. Bob and Aunt Nettie rode a mule down to our house.
I stopped doing my chores, read their son’s letter and wrote back to home. We said "Thank You Lord" that we can read and write.
Public education should be stressed every day. We have been retired from the teaching profession for 31 years. Yes, we taught it and believed in it. Too bad that so many in charge of education are trying other methods, which, in our opinion, have and will be failures.
It was good enough for our children, and we as parents always said stay in public education.
Sick list: Glad to report that Bobby Joines is improving, Louise Frazier recovering from results of the Flu shot, Mary Joines about the same, Anthony Wright not as well, Jeff James doing well, Garry Mullican, able to be at church, Jimmy Kimbrell, Mae Risner, James Keyt, Carroll Thomas, Rosa Young, Pat Wallace, Carolyn and Joe Dickey, Audrey Owens, Jerry Taylor, Linda Fuston, Sarah Walker, Becky Hill, Larry Hale, the Midgetts, Debbie O’Conner, and Jason Waggoner. It was good to know Bob Earl and Linda Fuston were able to attend church Sunday.
We got some rain today, which we really needed, and rain again on Friday morning. We believe rain is in the forecast for the weekend.
Dry Creek Baptist seniors enjoyed a trip to Amish Country on Saturday. They bought fresh molasses that was being made near the store.
Many of the stores were closing up for the winter months, so there were not many vegetables available. Fresh dug sweet potatoes were found in some stores. Spices were in some stores, and molasses cookies were bought.

"Let not your heart be troubled. I go to prepare a place for you." (John 14:1-2)
