It has been said that art imitates life. Lately, however, life has imitated art. If you have ever watched ‘I Am Legend’, you know that Will Smith plays a doctor trying desperately to find a cure for a disease resembling vampirism. As the movie ends, he finds a cure.
The cure is in his blood.
If you have ever watched any of the Resident Evil movies (or played the game), you know zombies overrun the world. The ‘undead’ walk among the living, killing any life they find. The hero, Alice, learns she has the cure to end the zombie apocalypse.
The cure is in her blood.
While the threat of an Ebola pandemic runs rampant, doctors have discovered antibodies within the few survivors of the Ebola virus that can help keep others alive.
The cure is in the blood.
There is another real life crisis at hand that we seem to ignore. It is the disease of sin. It infects us and our lives worse than any virus. It creates monsters in life, set on the destruction of families. It creates demons in addiction of every kind. It creates a chasm between us and God.
Jesus gave His life as atonement for our sins. In John 14:6, Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." In accepting Jesus as our Savior, we accept His blood sacrifice.
The cure is in His blood.
