SES Kindergarten Registration
Smithville Elementary will hold kindergarten registration for the 2025-2026 school year on Friday, May 9, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the County Complex.
Please bring COPIES of the following documents to Registration:
– Certified copy of the child’s birth certificate
– Current, up-to-date, physical examination and immunization record (These must be on a Tennessee Department of Health Certificate of Immunization, which can be obtained from
your doctor's office or the Health Department)
– Proof of residency for DeKalb County (i.e. gas/electric bill)
– Your child will need to attend. He/She will be assessed on this day.
* Children who register to attend kindergarten must turn five years old on or before August 15, 2025.
Free Rabies Vaccination and Microchip
Free rabies vaccination and microchip to DeKalb County, limit two per household, on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at DeKalb Animal Shelter located at 186 Transfer Station Road, Smithville. The clinic will be held from noon until 3pm, first come, first served. All cates MUST be in a carriers, and all dogs must have on a proper fitting collar/harness and be on a leash. You will be given a number and paperwork to complete. VERY IMPORTANT: remain in your vehicle until a volunteer calls your number. Once your number is called, a volunteer will assist your animal into the building. As soon as it is finished, a volunteer will return your animal to your car with the paperwork. Warren County Genealogical/Historical Association
The Warren County Genealogical and Historical Association will hold its monthly meeting on April 26, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Early Voting Room of the Warren County Administration Building located at 201 Locust Ave. in McMinnville, TN. Jimmy Haley will be presenting Part 2 of Downtown Historical Review, a program on historic McMinnville.

Commodities Distribution
The Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency (UCHRA) will hold a commodities distribution in DeKalb County on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 9 - 11 a.m. at 726 S. Congress Blvd.: Smithville, TN. Clients can sign up ahead of time online or at the distribution site on the day of the event. DEA National TakeBack Day
The National Drug Takeback Day is Saturday, April 26, 2025. DeKalb County locations will be receiving takebacks from 10am-2pm at the following locations: Smithville City Hall, 104 East Main Street, Smithville and Alexandria City Hall, 102 High Street, Alexandria.
Ladies Prayer Strategy Event
Mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, cousins and lady friends, get your tickets now for the Last Minute Toy Shop’s event to be held on May 3, 2025 at the DeKalb County Complex auditorium from 11:30a-1:30p. Four guest speakers, including Wanda Redmon, Tara Hale, Billy Ann Tubbs-Trigueros, and Beth Gill will talk about standing together in prayer to fight the opposition, along with ideas of creating your own war board, war room or war binder. Are you a veteran in need of assistance? DeKalb County has a Veteran’s Service Officer ready to help you, not only with filing claims, but for conversations about your service. Officer Erica Degni is located on the first floor of the DeKalb County Courthouse and is ready to offer assistance.
