News from the Mountain - Spring is here
carolgunter

How's things going?  Hope the storms miss us...April just started and I'm already tired of these winds, etc.

Checking out the mountain behind the house while I'm out on the patio resting after trimming back some bushes that were so overgrown. Some trees are greening out and now each day I'll be seeing the mountain getting greener.  I do love this time of year.  Birds, wasps, a hornet or two, and even a bumblebee have been flying about today. Not having to bundle up like an Eskimo these days with spring in the air.  I'll be getting back to work in a few minutes, because this warm weather is the berries to enjoy being outside.

Once again, we dodged a bullet as severe weather was predicted for our area on Sunday night.  Thankfully, not much wind but a lot of rain, around two-and-a-half inches, and some small hail fell.  This week has more rain for parts of the state and even a pretty good chance of severe weather again.  There's gonna be a lot of mowing that will need to be done after all this rain comes to an end.  Thursday through Saturday are weather alert days.

Makes your day when someone calls you young lady doesn't it? Not one but two people brightened my outlook on life on Monday of this week by making these comments.  Even though my mirror back at the house told me the "real truth" being "Queen for a day" if only for a little while, is a picker-upper in anyone's book I would imagine.  To top off the day someone at the checkout counter thought I was a teacher.  I always wanted to be a teacher, but my life went in a different direction.  Wow, my day settled down when I got home and looked in the mirror.  Reality hit then big-time, but ya know those people made a positive impact on me and how I felt that day.  I started thinking how we all could make other people's lives happier if we took the time to comment in a positive way about the day, how they looked, or what they had done or said to help and respect others. Making others feel better about themselves is a gift that needs to be given every day.

Wednesday evening Tony and Tracy Neal were outside checking out what flowers of theirs had made it through the harsh winter.  They are both, I'm glad to say, doing well.

I have never wanted to travel by boat to any destination. Having told you that, last night on television a commercial caught my attention as it was showing a cruise and how breathtaking a trip like that would be.  They made everything look so fabulous with so much entertainment, games, and food of every description to check out at your leisure.  No doubt I would probably like this if I would only try it.  Thoughts of the Titanic kept cropping up in my mind and that this cruise would only work for me if that ocean liner was anchored at port and not traveling the high seas.  Never wanted to fly either as I feel safer on the ground.  We are told it is a lot safer being on a plane than in a car.  Maybe if a plane would taxi around the runway for a spell, I would be all aboard for that.  I guess neither scenario would be a good outing for me.  Oh well, to each their own.

Please keep in prayer the following people:  Dusty Johnson, Mary Melton, Diane Evans, Rose Watts, Walter and Faye Ferrell, Sherry Gannon, Jack Parsley, Joe Gunter, the people of Israel and Ukraine, the leaders of this great nation, and the families of Kevin Hale, George Pitts, and Dorris Ferrell in the loss of their loved ones.

Have a great day!

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  1 John 1:9
