Got a call from my sister-in-law, Ann Warren, on Sunday morning
with some sad news. Ann's brother, Junior Melton age "75" that has
been on our prayer list passed away in the early morning hours of
Sunday, November 24th. Please keep the Melton family in your prayer
at this sad time in the loss of their dear loved one.
I mentioned to a friend of mine about Friday, November 22, 2024,
and it being sixty-one years ago November 22, 1963, that President
John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. It still hurts to
think about his life being cut short. I can still remember the hurt,
the tears, the heartache and the loss for our country.
Gracie Bratcher and her sister Mai Nell Melton are both doing
well. Burley Bogle doing somewhat better these days. He's still
taking care of the mules. I talked with Ruth Brown on Friday evening.
Ruth and son, Jeff, are doing ok. Betty Sue Hullett in Peru, Indiana
having a lot colder weather than us and having some snow to boot. The
cold weather is quite enough for me to have to put up with for the
time being.
My niece, Lori Ramires's birthday was on Saturday, November
23rd. Gave her a call and wished her a Happy Birthday
.
I was telling Mai Nell Melton about receiving this catalog from
Harry & David. So many candies, cheeses, fruits, flowers, etc. that
you can order. After seeing their prices, this girl will just have to
toss the catalog into file 13. I've been given gits of their products
before at Christmas. They are to die for because every food item is
so mouth-watering good especially the pears. I've never tasted pears
that just about melt in your mouth sort of like those juicy peaches
that you snatched when your mom wasn't looking when it came to canning
time. You can eat too many of those peaches as I found out resulting
in a tummy ache later on, but hey, they were worth it.
Please keep the following people in prayer: Dustin Johnson,
Diane Evans, Walter & Faye Ferrell, Rose Watts, Mary Melton, the
people of Israel and Ukraine, and the leaders of this great nation.
A lot of people already have their Christmas tree and
decorations up. I take it one special occasion at a time. The day
after Thanksgiving our tree and decorations go up. Of course, that's
everyone's business in celebrating Christmas the way they want to. It
is Christ's birthday, December 25th, and a day to praise and worship
Him for how great He is. He'll be coming back one of these days so we
as Christians must be ready for that jubilant day of our soon-coming
King and Savior. Acknowledge Jesus above everything. I love telling
people about Jesus and how He saved my soul. This Christmas season,
celebrating His birthday, why not try Jesus in your life? You've
nothing to lose, but heaven to gain.
Hope everyone is faring well with all the cold temperatures we
have been having. I guess for me it could be worse...I could be
living in Alaska. No way could I survive the frigid conditions there.
So far, several layers of clothing are helping me.
Have a great day!
Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
