Snow On The Mountain
carolgunter

Accumulating snow before night-fall here on the mountain
Sunday night.  We had been told all week to get prepared for a winter
storm that would hit us Sunday night.  That forecast came to fruition.
Some have told me we got over six inches of snow.  We can possibly
have another round of mixed precipitation Thursday night into Friday.
By Thursday the daytime temps will get above freezing.  The cold
weather getting into the single digits at night have hurt everyone.
Schools are out and could be out for the rest of the week.  A few
years back Fay Pitts, "Aubrey's" sister and I were contemplating
getting out and doing the snow-angel ting.  We soon decided it was a
nice thought, but that it wouldn't turn out to well if going down we
couldn't get back up without someone helping us.  With these extreme
weather conditions that we haven't had in several years, make sure you
do all you can to take care of yourself.  There will be a better day.
Just hang in there and try to stay busy doing things in your home.  At
this writing, six people have lost their lives in the state.  We are
being urged to stay at home if we don't have to get out.  Dangerous
driving conditions have been created by all the snow and refreezing on
the roads that have been traveled on.  Don't take a chance of losing
your life.  It's just not worth it as you can be replaced.

We have some people who are in need of prayer at the present
time dealing with more sickness:  Sepal Pedigo, Agness Harris, Tony
Neal, Rose Watts, Charlie Mai Daniel, Walter & Faye Ferrell, Jimmy &
Faye Hale, the people of Israel, and the families of Nelda Pitts and
Cynthis Hill in the loss of their loved ones.

You know if you've got dogs, cats, chickens, horses, mules,
cattle, or other critters, you've got to make sure they're ok before
bad winter weather hits. Talked with Burley Bogle on Monday.  He was
taking care of his mules, chickens (he has around 40) and other
animals on his farm.  The chickens are not laying but they are sure
eating good!  Chickens usually do not lay much in the wintertime.
"Might be having chicken and dumplings or fried chicken pretty often
in the days to come if this keeps up" he says.  Told him to get the
pot or the skillet ready and let me know when the chicken is on the
table.  Another option would be to get rid of a lot of them by selling
them.  The price of chicken feed, like everything else, has
sky-rocketed.
Ann Warren and son B.J. are doing better after being sick.
Talked with Ruth Brown on Monday evening.  Her family is also getting
straightened out after a lot of sickness.  Rick and Beverly Hubler
enjoying the pretty snowfall on Monday.  Gracie Bratcher and Mai Nell
Melton trying to stay indoors like so many of us are doing during this
bad weather we are having.  Surprisingly, Betty Sue Hullett, Aubrey's
sister in Indiana didn't get much snow like we did, but their daytime
and nighttime temperatures are a lot colder than ours.

Birthdays coming up in February:  Abbie Meyncke 1st, John

Rick & Beverly Hubler having their 37th wedding anniversary on
February 14th, Valentine's Day.  Also, Michael and Donna Prater are
having their 46th wedding anniversary on February 25th.
Congratulations to all of you!!!
It's Wednesday, January 17th, 2024.  I got to talk with Melvin
Ferrell, and he was feeling pretty good, just taking it easy and
trying to stay warm.
In a couple of weeks, the groundhog should give us a six-week
extension of bad weather if he sees his shadow.  Well, we don't need
any more cold and snowy weather as I see it, so maybe if someone would
kidnap him, that would be a blessing in disguise.

Last weekend every football and basketball team I was rooting
for got beat.  Also, a couple of movies I watched the leading guys got
snuffed out.  Some die-hard football fans in Buffalo got to attend the
football game after a lot of people were asked to come in and clean
the bleachers of all the snow in the Bills stadium paying them $20 an
hour.  Hope the up-coming weekend pans out better than the last one
for me.

O give thanks unto the Lord; call upon His name making known His
deeds among the people.  Sing unto Him, sing psalms unto Him; talk ye
of all His wondrous works.  Glory ye in His holy name: let the heart
of them rejoice that seek the Lord.  Psalm 105:1,2,3
